The ego does not wish to be annihilated. So in the beginning it will fight you at every turn. But don’t fight back, by reacting. Simply observe and watch and ask yourself: “To whom is this happening?” And you’ll find out. That’s all you’ve got to do.
Find your Self. Look to your Self. Dive deeper, deeper within yourself. Try to understand who you are by diving deep within yourself. Do not look to man. Do not look to the universe. Do not look to things. Look to your Self. Only you can know yourself. No one can really help you.
Grasp your thoughts with your mind, and put a stop to them any way you can, either by observing the thoughts or by practicing self-enquiry and asking to whom they occur. Whatever you need to do, do not allow yourself to think. If your mind does not think, you will be exceedingly happy. You will have unalloyed happiness.
